Volk Accountant vs Billino

Billino is free up to €50,000 of annual revenue and handles EU tax logic well. It is an invoicing tool, though, not bookkeeping.

Volk Accountant and Billino compared

Billino and Volk Accountant solve two different parts of the same job. Billino writes invoices with European tax logic: it validates the customer's VAT number against VIES, applies reverse charge automatically, tracks the 10,000-euro threshold for EU distance selling and produces e-invoices as Factur-X, ZUGFeRD and Peppol. Up to 50,000 euros of annual revenue that costs nothing; above it, 19 euros a month. What Billino does not do is marked Soon on its own feature page: scanning receipts and submitting a tax return. There is no bank connection and no accountant access either. Volk Accountant produces the Cyprus VAT-4 return and the VIES statement from your own books, reads receipts by OCR, connects bank accounts and gives your accountant a portal of their own — from 29 euros a month.

A dash means the provider publishes nothing on this. That is not the same as “cannot do it”.Details on Billino taken from the providers’ public pages, retrieved on 20 September 2026. Prices may have changed since — the provider’s own page always takes precedence.

The first group holds the difference: Volk Accountant produces the VAT return and the VIES statement, while Billino gets the individual invoice right. On invoice content, Billino is ahead of us — we do not offer e-invoices in the EU format.

If you would rather not weigh up just these two: the overview of all nine providers for Cyprus groups them by use case — with the same sources and check dates.

What sets Volk Accountant and Billino apart?

Both cover Cyprus. Three differences carry the decision.

Scope

Bookkeeping against invoicing

Volk Accountant produces VAT-4 and VIES from your own books, reads receipts by OCR and connects bank accounts. Billino writes invoices with the correct tax treatment; receipt scanning and tax submission carry the note “Soon” on its own feature page.

Accountant

A portal against a file export

With Volk Accountant your accountant gets their own login to a portal laid out like Tax For All, on every plan. Billino names no accountant access and delivers exports instead — DATEV CSV, CSV and bulk PDF.

Price

Free up to €50,000

Billino is free up to €50,000 of annual revenue and costs €19 a month above that. Volk Accountant starts at €29 a month and includes bookkeeping, receipt capture, bank connections and accountant access for it.

Volk Accountant is the better choice on two counts. First, if the bookkeeping should run alongside and not just the invoice: VAT-4, VIES, receipts and bank in one tool. Second, if you already have an accountant — with us they get a portal of their own rather than a file. Billino has the edge if issuing invoices is all you need: up to €50,000 of annual revenue it costs nothing, and it produces e-invoices in the EU format.

Where Billino does more than we do

A comparison page that finds nothing good in the competitor is advertising. These are documented advantages, checked 20 September 2026.

  • Free up to €50,000 of annual revenue, with the full feature set. €19 a month above that.
  • E-invoices under EN 16931 — Factur-X and ZUGFeRD on every invoice, with Peppol validation.
  • Tracking of the €10,000 threshold for EU distance selling, with automatic selection of the customer’s country rate.
  • Four countries in one tool: Germany, Austria, Cyprus and Greece, each with its own tax logic and small-business rules.
  • A DATEV export for German accountants, on every plan and at no extra cost.
Questions

Billino and Volk Accountant: common questions

Which software is better for Cyprus: Billino or Volk Accountant?

It depends how much you want the software to take on. Billino is an invoicing tool with very good EU tax logic and it is free up to €50,000 of annual revenue — if issuing invoices is all you need, it will take you a long way. Volk Accountant is bookkeeping: the VAT-4 return and the VIES statement from your own books, receipt capture by OCR, bank connections and a login of their own for your accountant, from €29 a month. Already having an accountant does not argue against us — it argues for us: Volk Accountant is built exactly for that case. We sell software only and work alongside your accountant, who gets a portal laid out like Tax For All on every plan. Billino states itself that receipt scanning and tax submission are only announced.

What does Billino cost?

The Free plan costs nothing and applies up to €50,000 of annual revenue — with the full feature set. Above that, the Plus plan is €19 a month with no revenue limit, API access for 1,000 calls and team access. For very high API use there is an Enterprise price on request. Volk Accountant costs €29 on Starter, €49 on Business and €79 on Pro. Billino is clearly cheaper at entry — it also covers a smaller part of the work.

Does Billino produce the Cyprus VAT return?

Not yet. On the feature page, tax submission carries the note “Soon”: “Submit directly from your invoice history.” What Billino does today is the step before that — the correct tax treatment on every individual invoice. For the VIES side there is a ready-to-file list of reverse-charged sales grouped by customer VAT ID, but it is framed around the German term Zusammenfassende Meldung rather than the Cyprus form. Volk Accountant produces VAT-4 and VIES from the books.

Can Billino capture receipts?

Only in a limited way. Expenses can be logged by category with a receipt attached. Automatic reading is marked “Soon” on the feature page: “Scan a receipt and have it added as an expense automatically.” Billino names no bank connection. At Volk Accountant, receipts are read by OCR, can be scanned with your phone and sent in by email, and bank accounts are connected.

What can Billino do that Volk Accountant cannot?

Three things. E-invoices in the EU format — Factur-X and ZUGFeRD on every PDF invoice, plus Peppol validation; that is the EN 16931 standard several EU states are making mandatory. Tracking of the €10,000 threshold for EU distance selling, with automatic rate selection. And a DATEV export for German accountants. On top of that, Billino covers four countries: Germany, Austria, Cyprus and Greece.
