Volk Accountant and BTMS compared
BTMS and Volk Accountant solve the same task in two fundamentally different ways. BTMS is a Windows program that gets installed, either on a server in your own office or on a cloud server; it requires Windows XP through 11, an Intel i5 processor, eight gigabytes of memory and an SQL Server. Volk Accountant runs in the browser and needs none of that, including on a Mac or a phone. The second large difference is price: BTMS publishes no figure anywhere on its website, no subscription model and no trial, so finding out what it costs means asking. At Volk Accountant, 29, 49 and 79 euros a month are on the pricing page, and the trial runs 14 days without a card.

On the Cyprus obligations, BTMS names the VAT return and reverse charge explicitly. On the VIES statement there is nothing on any page — which is why that row shows a dash rather than a cross.

What sets Volk Accountant and BTMS apart?
Both come from Cyprus and know the local obligations. Three differences carry the decision.
Browser against installation

Bookkeeping against stock control
BTMS includes warehouse management, bills of materials and purchase and sales analysis, which puts it in reach of trade and manufacturing. Volk Accountant covers invoices, receipts and the Cyprus filings and offers no stock management.
What BTMS costs is not on the website
That is why this page has no plan comparison — you cannot compare what is not published.

For software that is customised to order and set up on site, that is a normal way of working: the effort depends on the number of companies, the modules and the installation. For a comparison, though, it means the two offers cannot be set against each other on price.
Where BTMS does more than we do
A comparison page that finds nothing good in the competitor is advertising. These are documented advantages, checked 20 September 2026.
- Stock control. Warehouse management, inventory control, bills of materials and a detailed purchase and sales analysis. We do not offer any of it.
- Running it on your own server. If the data is not to leave the building, that is possible — a cloud server is an option too.
- Unlimited companies with their own charts of accounts, users and currencies.
- In Cyprus since 2005, with its own programs for payroll, point of sale, timesheets, garages and other areas — and remote support as a service of its own.
- Customisation to order. The provider states the system can be modified for particular requirements.

Which accounting software is better for Cyprus: BTMS or Volk Accountant?
It depends on how you want to work. BTMS is an installed Windows program with a modular design that includes stock management, bills of materials and detailed purchase and sales analysis, and it has been maintained in Cyprus since 2005. Volk Accountant runs in the browser, requires no installation and no particular hardware, shows its prices publicly and can be tried for 14 days. For a trading or manufacturing business with stock, BTMS may be the better fit. For a services company that issues invoices, captures receipts and wants to produce its Cyprus filings, the browser is the shorter route.

Does BTMS need Windows?
For the installed version, yes. The FAQ lists Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and 11 in 32 and 64 bit as supported systems, and as a minimum an Intel i5 processor, eight gigabytes of memory, a 250-gigabyte drive and an SQL Server. Asked about Mac, iPhone and iPad, BTMS answers: “Yes you can if you choose to go with the online cloud server solution.” So access from a Mac or a phone requires the cloud-server option. Volk Accountant runs in any browser, with no installation and no hardware requirement.
Does BTMS do the Cyprus VAT return and VIES?
The feature list of the accounting system names “Vat return Form Generation” and “EU/Inland Reverse charge entry” explicitly, so the VAT return and reverse charge are covered there. On the VIES statement BTMS publishes nothing: the term appears on none of the pages we checked. That does not mean the software cannot do it — it means it is not stated. At Volk Accountant, VAT-4 and VIES are included in the Starter plan at €29.
What can BTMS do that Volk Accountant cannot?
Above all, stock management. BTMS includes warehouse management, inventory control, bills of materials and a detailed purchase and sales analysis — none of which we offer. On top of that come unlimited companies with their own charts of accounts, the option to run it on your own server if the data is not to leave the building, and customisation to order. BTMS also builds its own programs for payroll, point of sale, timesheets and other areas.
